DMV Reinstatement After DUI Suspension/Revocation:
To have your license reinstated in the District of Columbia after a DUI suspension or revocation period is complete, an individual must submit proof of a successful completion of an alcohol program, a reinstatement fee, proof of a clean driving record (i.e. no unpaid tickets), and proof of high-risk insurance (SR-22) if convicted of a DUI. They must schedule a hearing with the DMV in order for the reinstatement to be approved. If you are a DC license holder, you may be required to retake a driving examination. Seek the advice of your DUI attorney to find out how your DUI arrest could affect your license.
